Talk is cheap. Walk the walk. Word is bond.
These are some of the most quoted sayings about one of the most important principles in life. Back up your words. Keep your promises. The ones you make to yourself and to others. It's too easy to fall into the trap of saying one thing and doing another. It's easy to say things. It can be very difficult to actually DO things. I'll be the first to admit that I struggle with this. Not so much in a broken promises way as (I'm sure that's happened, I'm human) having big dreams and goals and not taking the action to make them happen. Saying I want to do things, and not doing them. (I'm sure some of the people in my life would point out that I can be flakey at times, too, and this is also a part of the same flaw.) I'm becoming more and more self aware, which is a good (and somewhat uncomfortable) thing. It's really easy to delude ourselves. I think it's a universal human trait. As my self awareness grows, I become more aware of my flaws. (Hoping I'll eventually become more aware of my strengths, too.) This isn't the best feeling thing in the world, but I'm happy about it nonetheless. Now, I can work on fixing the leaks. So I'm posting this as a reminder to myself (and you, dear reader) how important it is to prove your words.
